Philippe Bouzereau Meursault Clos de la Croix Noire 2023

Meursault, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France | 100% Chardonnay

Elegant, textured and beautifully refined, Philippe Bouzereau Meursault Clos de la Croix Noire 2023 showcases the character that makes Meursault one of Burgundy’s most celebrated appellations for white wine. Crafted by a family with nine generations of winemaking heritage, this village-level Burgundy combines ripe orchard fruit, delicate floral aromas and the distinctive mineral character of the Côte de Beaune.

The nose reveals white flowers, lemon zest, ripe pear and fresh orchard fruit, layered with vanilla, toasted hazelnut and subtle buttery notes. On the palate, the wine is silky and rounded, with a generous texture balanced by refreshing acidity and a precise mineral backbone. Gentle oak influence adds complexity without overpowering the fruit, leading to a long, harmonious finish with lingering citrus, floral and nutty nuances.

What Makes It Special?

Meursault is renowned for Chardonnay that balances richness and texture with freshness and mineral complexity. Unlike many simpler Chardonnay bottlings, this wine offers the depth and layered character associated with Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune.

The name Clos de la Croix Noire refers to a historic black cross associated with the vineyard site. Philippe Bouzereau represents the ninth generation of his family’s winemaking tradition, and the estate focuses on expressing the individual character of Burgundy’s varied vineyard parcels.

Winemaking

The wine combines fermentation and aging in stainless-steel or other vats and oak barrels, bringing together freshness, texture and subtle spice. Barrel maturation contributes roundness and complexity, while the restrained use of oak allows the Chardonnay’s fruit and mineral character to remain in balance.
