Powerful, polished and deeply expressive, Melka Majestique Paderewski Vineyard Syrah is a small-production wine from one of Paso Robles' standout Rhône sites. Crafted by Philippe and Cherie Melka, the 2019 marks the winery's ninth vintage from the Paderewski Vineyard, a rocky limestone site in Paso Robles' Willow Creek District farmed by Epoch Estate Wines.

The wine bursts from the glass with dark raspberry, blackberry, black olive, violets and lavender, followed by layers of smoked meat, black licorice, mocha, dry herbs and savory spice. On the palate, it is rich and concentrated yet surprisingly fresh, with plush dark fruit, vibrant acidity and beautifully integrated tannins. A subtle mineral and saline character adds complexity, while the finish is exceptionally long and persistent.

The Paderewski Vineyard

The wine comes from Paderewski Vineyard, a distinctive site in Paso Robles' Willow Creek District known for its rocky, limestone-rich soils. The vineyard's combination of geology and Paso's dramatic day-to-night temperature swings helps produce Syrah with both power and freshness. The site is farmed by Epoch Estate Wines and has become an important source for Melka's Majestique Syrah.

Winemaking

The 2019 was fermented in a combination of concrete and oak puncheons, with the wine aged for 21 months in 70% new French oak. The result is a Syrah with substantial richness and oak depth, while retaining the freshness and savory character of the vineyard. Production was just 150 cases, making this a genuine small-production bottling.

By utilizing this service, the purchaser is representing that he/she is acting in a fashion compliant with his/her local and state laws regarding the purchase, transportation, and delivery of alcoholic beverages. The purchaser represents that he/she has obtained any required permission, paid any required fees, is working through properly licensed intermediaries where required, is legally entitled to take possession of alcoholic beverages, and is legally entitled to take quantities ordered and once again authorizes that he/she is 21 years of age.

Flat Rate shipping for $35 for all purchases under $500. For any order over $500, we offer free shipping.

International Shipping

Generally, we do not ship internationally, as some countries have restrictions on wine/sake shipping. Please send an email to elizabeth@inthecru.com before purchasing. In all cases, local taxes and shipping will be paid by the purchaser.

Signature Policy

For successful delivery of your wine or sake on the initial try, we highly advise selecting an address where an individual aged at least 21 is present to sign for the package. Legally, wine cannot be left without such a signature. Unfortunately, we are unable to refund shipping fees for packages returned due to the absence of an adult for signing. Shipments cannot be sent to APOs, FPOs, or P.O. boxes. Additionally, deliveries will not be made to individuals deemed intoxicated by the driver.
