The nose opens with blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, black cherry and blueberry, layered with fragrant violet, rose petals, fresh tobacco, cedar, star anise and subtle spice. With time in the glass, notes of dark chocolate, graphite and earthy minerality emerge. The palate is concentrated yet remarkably graceful, with beautifully defined dark fruit, vibrant freshness and exceptionally fine-grained tannins. What Makes It Special?

Eisele Vineyard is a historic, highly regarded site in Calistoga, at the northern end of Napa Valley. The estate's unique geology includes distinct areas of volcanic and sedimentary soils, contributing to the vineyard's complexity and distinctive sense of place.

The flagship Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the heart of Eisele Vineyard, where older sedimentary soils help shape a wine known for its precision, complexity, silky texture and remarkable ability to age. Rather than simply emphasizing power, Eisele aims to achieve concentration without heaviness, allowing the vineyard's character to shine through.

The 2021 Vintage

The 2021 growing season began with exceptionally low rainfall and warmer-than-average temperatures. Careful vineyard management, canopy work and a lengthy ripening period helped the grapes achieve excellent skin maturity despite summer heat events.

The estate describes the resulting vintage as vibrant and naturally concentrated, with expressive floral aromas, dark fruit and beautifully refined tannins. The grapes were harvested between early and late September, and production totaled approximately 1,168 cases.

Winemaking

The Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from the estate vineyard and fermented with a classic extraction approach, using a slightly longer maceration to capture the depth and character of the fruit.

The wine aged for 21 months in a combination of new French oak barrels (70%) and new Austrian oak foudres (30%). This thoughtful élevage contributes structure and savory complexity while allowing the wine's floral character, freshness and mineral finish to remain beautifully defined.

The estate's Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are certified organic by CCOF and biodynamic by Demeter.
